Paver Patios & Hardscape
Hand-laid stone terraces, bluestone walkways, granite steps, and bespoke outdoor living rooms built to endure for generations.
Hardscape is the skeleton of a garden — the permanent structure upon which everything else depends. A poorly designed terrace is expensive to correct; a beautifully executed one becomes more beautiful as it weathers and settles into the landscape over decades. We work exclusively with natural stone — Hudson Valley bluestone, Pennsylvania fieldstone, Connecticut granite, reclaimed brick — avoiding the mass-produced concrete pavers that age poorly and undermine the character of a serious property. Each project is dry-laid or mortared depending on application, on a properly engineered base that accounts for the freeze-thaw cycles of the Northeast climate.
The Hudson Valley’s climate demands a different approach to hardscape than southern markets. Freeze-thaw cycles are aggressive — water infiltrates every imperfect joint and heaves pavements over time. Our installations begin with a properly engineered gravel base, typically eight to twelve inches deep depending on frost depth and soil conditions, ensuring that years from now your terrace looks exactly as it did when we finished it.
